USB Headphones showing as speakers & Realtek not recongising either.

So as the title says, I recently built a new computer and I've had many problems regarding sound issues. Firstly, Realtek HD audio manager doesn't recognize my USB headset (sennheiser U320 gaming) OR my logitec headset as a device. The only thing it recognizes are my audio jack speakers. However, these devices do work if I go around realtek HD audio manager and then run them through windows audio manager.

My second problem is that these USB headphones are both showing up in windows audio manager as been speakers and not headphones. My windows updates are up to date and as far as I can tell, all my mobo drivers are up to date.

    Please see the attachment.

    Any suggestions/help is much appreciated.

    Thank you!

USB devices do not use the PC's sound device. They are taking digital audio and converting it to analog for the headset. In effect the USB speakers have a built in sound card.

Also, I notice you have the RealTek digital output set as default. With the digital output set as default, regular analog speakers will not work.

Does that mean as long as I'm using a USB headset, they will appear as speakers in the windows audio manager? Do I need an Audio jack for it to come up as headset?

Oh yup, I don't actually use the Realtek manager as it doesn't recongize my headphones. I was just playing with the settings in audio manager before I took the screen shot.

    Thanks for your reply!

The USB device has no bearing on RealTek or the analog audio jacks. They will show up as a separate device in the Sound, Playback section. See this other forum thread that I'm working and that users screen shots with a USB headset.
