    Experiencing severe audio lag when doing things graphically intensive.


    Hello, First time poster, if that even means anything. Anyways. my problem.

    I use a pair of planotronics Gamecom 780's that plug in via USB. They have their own drivers that install and a bit of software that comes with. making them "artificial" 7.1 surround. I have noticed for a very long time now that when i do anything that is CPU or GPU (not sure which) intensive, I get some severe audio underruns.(loud crackling similar to that of pluggin in a 3.5mm jack) I notice this happens when i open a window, or begin buffering a video on Youtube. It's VERY annoying.

    What I've tried
    I have tried turning off the surround sound mode. No difference, they still make the sound. I have tried getting new drivers. I have tried using a different USB port. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing. And Rebooting.

    Note: I notice slightly less underruns when coming out of a fresh boot. they get progressively worse as the computer stays up.

    I dont really know what else to do here other than an external soundcard or new headphones. Neither of which im sure will work. Help is greatly appreciated.

    Run the DPC latency checker and see what it shows.

    It shows that some drivers are behaving badly and asks to individually turn them off to find the bad one. Will get back to you when i finish that.

    The Resplendence Latency Monitor is also available. It goes into extensive detail and may also help you.

    Ok, Ran both. They both say there is a driver problem, and I cannot seem to locate the bad driver since disabling various drivers seems to make the problem worse :/ The Latency Mon says: "One or more DPC routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long."

    It claims power management is an issue, however processor throttling is turned off in Windows, and minimum processor and max are set to 100%. So no problem there.

    LatencyMon also shows that the highest reported DPC execution time is 1463.67us. and its from "NETIO.SYS - Network I/O Subsystem"

    I'm unsure what that means, maybe its a network driver?

    And it also states that the highest ISR time is 182.67 at "dxgkrnl.sys - DirectX Graphics Kernel

    Any ideas?
