rob123, that is a good point. Besides, some enhancements chew up a lot of CPU cycles (e.g. equalizer).

Hi rob,

I actually solved my problems by doing something completly different:

I realised that W7, unlike XP, requires that you plug everything in to the right audio port. So the reason why my headset was so quiet was that the W7 thought it was a normal speaker. Solution to this was to plug my headphones into the front panel (which for some reason wasn't plugged into my MB correctly, so had to open the PC up and fix that) and put the 5.1 speakers in the right ports at the back. Now the audio is just as loud, if not louder, than XP.

Sound is really quiet
I have tried setting volume to max on all devices and using loudness equalization. The audio is still pretty quiet, and youtube videos are even quieter. I could of sworn it was louder at one point but I can't find anything to adjust. A flat DB modifier would be great.
