Speakers play when headphones are plugged in

My Speakers play when my Heaphones are plugged in

I have looked at previous solutions such as going to search and sound and changing to default. But on my control pannel of sound I only have the options of Speakers and Bluetooth Headphones not Speakers and Headphones as I assume I am supposed to have as any solution I have seen requires that.

Someone help urgently as I am going on holiday and would like to be able to watch films on my laptop:)

First, are you using the correct sound driver? What do you show in the Device Manager for Sound? If it's "HD Audio Codec" that is most likely the problem as that is just a generic, basic function driver installed by Windows. If that is the case get the correct sound driver as that probably will fix it.

Some sound systems, such as those with RealTek sound, have a control panel with the option to have both the speakers and headphones on (as you have it now) or only the headset when a headset is plugged in.

If you have RealTek, go to Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and the RealTek HD Audio Manager will be listed. Access the manager and then click on Device Advanced Settings. The panel that comes up has the option. See my screenshot.
If you have some other sound, some have this option.
