Media Player Won't Play Any MP3 or Video!

I've reinstalled Win7 to resolve some little issues I had.
Now, WMP just won't play ANY MP3 files (including ones it ripped!) or AVI files.
Real Player plays them all OK.
Any ideas? Worked fine on previous installation.

There is problem of WMP in windows 7. I can't play any video file like dvd (.vob), .avi, .dat etc., the PC gets hanged, have to be re-started all over again. I can see
movies only through VLC media player. The onboard graphic driver is 915G and motherboard is 915GAG, earlier I was not able to adjust screen resolution and monitor refresh rate, after updation (windows update), that problem has been solved. Actually, 17" or higher monitor(CRT) or TFT/LCD is a must for windows 7.

Kindly send any solution to play video files through WMP. Even Cyberlink, PowerDVD doesn't work.

Hi os7 and welcome to the forum!

Please review your event logs when you experience these hangs. It could provide clues as to what is causing these behaviors.

Off the bat, you can try going to your graphics card manufacturer's website, in this case, Intel's support page, and download the latest video driver, install then restart.

If you still encouter these issues after having the latest video driver's installed please read the post Windows 7 Codec Pack carefully and install. I believe that this should sort out your issues.

Let us know how it turns out for yah

Try to reinstall your video drivers, if that doesnt work check the following:

    1) Right click your desktop's background.
    2) Click Screen Resolution
    3) Look at Display.

Does it say anything, or is it blank? What if you click on the arrow? What does the list show?

If it is blank you are experiencing the same issue I was going through last week. If I opened the Zune software, I would see the window as blank (perhaps it didnt detect any display to show the software) and WMP would not play videos. I almost reinstalled Windows 7 until I found out about it, and just went to nvidia.com and downloaded the latest drivers for my 8600M. It has been completely fine ever since.

Don't mean to bring back up an old thread, but the solution to this is disabling audio enhancements in the sound properties via the control panel on the device.
