    Creative Audigy 2 sound issues

While playing a game, listening to music, talking on ventrilo my audio starts getting distorted. The best description I can think of is it sounds like a metallic freaky sound. It last for a minute or so and then it starts to clear up and returns to normal. This happens a couple times per day and appears to be more prevalent when using multiple apps. I have uninstalled and installed the lastest creative drivers as well as trying Daniel K's driver. I also have reverted to the windows default driver. They all do the same thing. Windows gives me a message saying that the driver is experiencing problems and it asks me if I want to disable it. I do not have any issues with the onbard audio when I enable it. I prefer to get the soundlblaster working properly since the sound is alot better IMO when it works.

what is the kx for, is it a driver or it should be installed after installing the driver, is it like a fixing tool for some problems like the sound itching or metallic sound that will hang for some minutes.... and so on.

i tried the kx 32 on my xp 32 with the audigy 2 zs driver and applications installed, and after restart, a first mesage said direct sound cant initialize and the creative mixer crashed and could not load, i dont know what should i get plus with the kx, is it only good for 64 bit, and is there such problems there?

p.s.: i tried to lauch creative tools, but all of them said "the audio device supported by this application is not detected. the application will exit"

kx is an open source driver for emu10k1 and emu10k2 and a couple other chipsets, If you already get sound though I wouldn't try them unless of course you want the nice DSP effects and plugins it can use.

KX can't use the creative software, it has it's own settings. Just re-install creative, but they should have an uninstall for KX

I uninstalled all the creative drivers and software before installing the KX software package. Maybe why you had issues if you installed KX on top of the creative stuff. But as mushroomboy said if you weren't having issues with the creative drivers I would stick with them. I was having serious sound degradation which is why I went with KX.

I got this same problem on my dowstairs PC that I had on my upstairs PC. I have narrowed the problem down to one game I play. Shot Online. Not sure why it has issues with creative audigy 2's but it has happened to both pc's. Both have the latest Daniel K drivers. I DQ&A'ed the game admins to see what they have heard.
