WMP Server Execution Error, WinAMP DirectSound Error, others.

    Hey!

My father's computer, after running ADWCleaner yesterday, started behaving finicky.
At first, Explorer.exe didn't work right. It kept saying "failed to initialize".
Following some online guides, I issued regsvr32.exe over every file in the C: drive.
This fixed that problem. But other problems started showing up, the first one being the
"Server Execution Failed" by Windows Media Player.
WinAMP also gave a DirectSound error. The "Save As.." operation gives a "Class not registered" error.

I believe the registry may be corrupt.
Thus far, I have tried many things to fix the issues, such as -

    • Running FixIT, which also gave errors
    • CHKDSK, which found no errors
    • Reinstalling drivers and DirectX
    • Trying from the Administrator account
    • Virus Scans
    • CCleaner Registy Fix (I know, I know)
    • etc

Unluckily, someone had disabled system restore, so there are no backup points.

Also, this computer has important files and programs on it, so a wipe would be bothersome.

What can I do to fix it?

    Thanks in advance.

Although sound is affected, this is not a problem for this forum section. It is an OS issue, apparently caused by the Ad Aware Cleaner.
