Realtek audio drivers (intel motherboard) does not work for win 7,

    HI,
I have audacity for audio recording. I bought a headphone with mike. Intel mother board sound card which i have been using in windows xp, is not working in windows 7. When i Installed win7, it auto detected the HD audio drivers from Microsoft and updated to win 7. There is no problem in audio playback, but only in recording. I plugged in the pink jacket at the rear for mike, but the recording tab shows that in front jack. I do not have audio jacks in my front panel. How come this?
I went to Realtek and downloaded their specific drivers from this link and it install but windows alert compatibility of these drivers , by saying that it has no signature alert. If i install despite warning, it installs and somehow show. But, the microsoft sound icon still remains in the tray and it only has the sound meter control. If i click realtek nothing happens. How to solve this problem ?
I have one pink, one green and another blue jack at the back and nothing in front. Pl help

    Hi,
And why the mike jack is shown in front instead of its usual plugged in position at the rear of the computer

I have problem with the realtek audio drivers, which was supplied by the vendor intel. INtel totally stopped support for this product at their web site. The peculiar problem is when i downloaded the authors drivers for vista, Which they say support win 7 also, the windows shows compatibility alert and if i click on for the online solution, it goes to the same page from where i downloaded the drivers.
It is a curse to have the intel mother board to have the xp version driver and now they would not support. Hell to them. Now even Intel interactive utility, when clicked, show that i do not have intel desk top board alert.Funny is int it?. Moreover if i download their offline utility, they show, the mother board details as intel desktop.
So, really what is the solution that would work for me?
If i just installed and reboot, the win7 os auto detects and update the drivers for sound, invariably microsoft HD audio drivers. When i insert the mike in Pink jack at rear, it shows, in front.

When i plug the mike at the rear of the PC, the Microsoft recording device tab show it as if i plugged in front. I do not have any jack . how to change this to the rear position.
When i was using Realtek, there was no problem. How to disable in Microsoft HD recording devices tab.

Would be very helpful if your System Specs details were more complete and what kind of motherboard is inter gav 915 as without knowing your motherboard to start with it's very difficult to guess where to start trouble shooting. It's possible your motherboard is simply too old and doesn't support Win 7 regardless and time for an upgrade or maybe, as you have no front audio jacks, the front panel sound header doesn't have the required jumpers on it and other possibilities. Have you tried installing a different sound card

The last point in your answer, i have not changed the sound card . Ok it is old mother board intel desktop d915 gav . When i bought , they have supplied a cd, which contains the audio drivers. Simple sound drivers are getting automatically updated when i boot and it is thro window update. It is automatic process. But what about specific requirements such as recording. I tried to plug the headphone mike jack or orindary mike in the pink jack at the rear side, it shows it in the front position. As i have no support from Intel for this model, i tried to download the driver from Realtek . It would not allow, and even if i installed it , it would alert compatibliity issue and when i click for solution, it goes to the same download page, from where i downloaded the driver. when i insert the original cd, to install the original, it shows error message that i do not have any intel mother board.
I even plugged out the cmos battery to remove any bios update and then also it will not allow the download from the cd.
I want to record a song using audacity. Pl. What more information is needed

According to Intel this motherboard has no Win 7 support (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sea...73&ProdId=1673) so if you have one lying around try a different sound card and disable the on-board sound from the BIOS or it's time to update

I have downloaded the required driver and i could see that Realtek is the audio driver in the Device Manager. Now , could you say how to change the settings. The link is
Download Win7_Win8_Win81_R275.exe free - Realtek High Definition Audio Driver for Windows 7 / 8 / Vista
I got only alert from windows not to download from unknown source. But no problem .I enabled continue button and it shows on reboot.
Please tell the solution. The last resort is change ok. Hi, Thanks very much shimshom
Should i have to change the mother board or could i buy support sound card? cost pl

    Hi,
I am enclosing the png of mike, playback and dev mgr for easy reference.
I could now see the Pink rear in my mic connection
I could see the Green jack in my playback speaker in window tab. So, now the Realtek drivers are working. How to change the record or test the voice in mike in recording

probably the cheapest option is to get a sound card as upgrading the motherboard will also require new CPU and RAM and many are available on Ebay like this one Creative Sound Blaster. Not sure where you are but sound cards are now cheap so don't go overboard just buy a middle of the road one as your computer is too old to warrant an expensive one. When you install the driver are you able to open the Realtek HD Audio manager in the Control Panel as it gives further options to assign the different input/output jacks but I really do think it's best to just get a sound card as even if you get it going with the motherboard one you'll get very average recording quality which you'll probably get regardless since your system specs are not great for sound production

    Thanks Shimshom
I could now record with window sound recorder. I tested. Thanks for the driver i got from this link. It is 221 mb size. The driver from Realtek is waste and does not serve any purpose, nor the support from it. Ofcourse, the quality of sound is also good.
Would you know the settings that one should do to record in Audacity, a nice free program for all sound effects.
I could play thro mike is real improvement. But in audacity , the recorded voice never heard although i could see the recording graphs in Audacity.

If you have the generic, basic function, Windows installed "High Definition Audio Device (Codec) it does not provide all the functions that the hardware's driver (e.g. RealTek) does.

With the correct driver, plugging into either jack should work.
