Could you go to the driver tab and tell me what you see?

Go into Device Manager and uninstall all drivers related to your sound card. Then reboot, and let Windows automatically install them.

Try this, set to DVD Quality. Usually clears up this type of problem.

I'm afraid it hasn't made any difference.
I'm very grateful for the time you have spent on this.

    Yup. Didn't work either.
I'm wondering if I should reinstall Windows 7 and see what happens? I won't lose anything as work is all backed up.

If you can, that might be a good idea. Let us know how it works out. Also, be sure to do a clean install, rather than an upgrade.

Did you do a clean install or upgrade from Vista?
