Replaced power supply, now no sound from speakers

The power supply on my 4-yr old custom build recently gave out. I replaced the PS, and the machine is running normally again, except I can not get sound out of the speakers.

Here are what I believe to be the pertinent facts...

    • Sound worked completely fine prior to PS replacement
    • There are no errors being thrown that I can see
    • Volume is turned up and speakers show that they are un-muted.
    • When sound file is playing, the level indicators are registering positively.
    • Gigabyte motherboard has Realtek HD audio
    • The Realtek audio manager indicates that the speakers are the default output
    • Headphone output via the front-panel jack is working OK
    • Line-in via the rear jack is working OK
    • I have tried both options for headphones mute speakers and headphones and speakers are separate output. Still nothing from speakers.
    • The machine is dual-boot Win7/Linux. Sound from speakers works correctly when booted in Linux.
    • Tried unplugging the front panel header, no difference.

It acts like the speakers are simply muted, but there is no indication of that anywhere. I've messed with it for 2+ hours and have gotten nowhere.

    Suggestions?

Try uninstall/reinstall the RealTek. Go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the RealTek entry in the Sound section. Then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. This corrects any Windows sound corruptions and may fix your problem.
