    HawkeyeFXR;

    As far as I know, the metadata (album/artist/year/etc.) is what iTunes or, say, Foobar2000 or Windows Media Player uses to organize any readable and playable media. What in particular are you trying to do in making this particular group of MP3s a compilation? I mean, are you going to burn an MP3 CD (with the files in data format, I mean) or an organizational method that would put all of the MP3s you've stripped the metadata from in a single block?

    Generally, unless you're sure the filenames will be enough to distinguish from each other and define the organization of your music files, it's not a great idea to strip every metadata tag from a batch of audio files you're going to be using in a media player that relies on tags. I know that's not helpful now seeing as you've already done the deed...for now, make sure you keep the MP3s in question in a folder by themselves, because without any metadata iTunes will have no idea how to organize them into anything (aside from their filenames).
