    Equalizer

    Hello

I have installed the realtek HD audio drivers, and my sound works. However, when using the equalizer, it works the first time you calibrate it, however as soon as you play a song, a video on youtube or launch a game, the equalizer seems to disable by itself ( you can clearly hear it on the sound as clarity is lost) even though the equalizer still shows the same settings. I'm not sure who is responsible for programming such lousy software... help?

Solved by using dfx instead of realteks program.

Youtube uses Adobe Flash and it sounds like that is disabling the EQ. Games are another that can set up their own sound parameters.

What happens if you set it and then use Windows Media Player?

    Equalizer

Your screenshot shows general settings. What happens if you try <user define> settings? Do they stick?

Yes, I have tried using my own user defined settings, and the result is the same.

It appears that the only way to activate the equalizer (after it deactivates by itself) is by sliding the marker that adjusts the 16k frequency up and down, this seems to refresh the equalizer as the sound changes back to the way it is supposed to sound when the equalizer is enabled.

I have to do this several times on a daily basis, everytime I play a video game, watch a video on youtube or play a song.

    Reinstall the driver

Suggest: Removing the driver - rebooting, then downloading and installing the latest driver. Ask for help with finding the correct driver here:

I have now uninstalled the driver and downloaded the newest one from realteks website and the result is the same.

P.S: when i install the drivers and start the program it appears with the name Lenovo HD Audio Configuration, which is strange since the drivers are download from realteks official website.

Well you're supposed to download the driver from your system/motherboard manufacturer's website rather than the Realtek website.

See: How do I know which audio driver update I want?(Realtek)

So for my ASUS machine it's this download that's required rather than anything from the Realtek website:

I am going to reinstall the drivers using the drivers directly from lenovos official website, and after some testing I am going to return with the results.

On both my Gigabyte and ASUS motherboards, even though I use the R2.75 RealTek driver direct from RealTek, it still shows up as Gigabyte and ASUS on the RealTek HD Audio Manager. That is not a problem.

I also have my default format at 16 bits 44.1Khz (CD Audio Quality). No need for higher bits/bitrates.

I have now download the drivers directly from Lenovo's website and it did not solve the problem, the equalizer still resets everytime I play a song or a game, and I have to use the method described in post #4 to activate it again.
