Windows 7 audiodg.exe leaking memory like crazy

For the last month or so Windows 7 has been leaking memory in the audiodg process. At first I was noticing a very annoying crackle in whatever I was listening to, I found out it was caused by audiodg using too much memory. Recently it's been causing audio to cut out completely until I restart the service. It's getting unbelievably annoying and I would like to get everything fixed.

Also, don't recommend turning off enhancements. That's already done and it's still causing problems.

Have you made sure your audio drivers are up to date? Try that, if it doesn't work, use Geek Uninstaller (great little standalone app) to try and uninstall your drivers completely (wipe registry and file leftovers), restart and try installing the drivers again. You haven't specified which audio card it is, so i'm going by the assumption it's a random integrated one from Realtek.

EDIT: Yeah, just did a quick search for your MOBO. Go here and download a fresh copy of your audio drivers. First figure out which revision of the card is it - there's rev 1.0, rev 1.1 and rev 3.0
Don't really know how to help you with that, though, sorry.

I just updated my audio drivers and I'm waiting to see if it'll act up again or not. So far it's staying in a relatively low memory range, but I'm not convinced of anything yet. Also Gigabyte hasn't updated the listing in a while, the latest driver version is listed on the Sound & Audio page here on the forums.

[EDIT]: And it still build up memory usage like crazy.

Alright, so I'll continue searching for any possible fixes, though there is one right from Microsoft, so you might want to try that maybe?

EDIT: Are you using foobar2000 to listen to music, perhaps?

I've tried the fixes Microsoft have on their website, but neither of them install, they say it's not for my version of windows. Also I do use Foobar2000 but it's not my main player.

There's a fairly new memory leak caused by foobar whenever you stop a song mid-way and either restart it or change to another one, not sure if they patched that yet.

You need to take some time out of your day and pay VERY close attention to what causes the leak. I suggest you have the Task Manager open at all times, focused on audiodg and try using a couple of different media players, or even browsers, to play music. See which one tends to increase the process' memory usage without releasing it when you close it.

Not sure what else can be done. Just make sure you do a cold boot - maybe even a clean boot would help - before you start testing.

Also, if your audio drivers are up to date, maybe check the MOBO drivers as well?

I use iTunes as my main media player. I'll try a clean boot and see how that goes.

[EDIT]: Okay, so far everything's been working right after a clean boot. I'm still weary,so I'll leave the thread open in case something happens. If not I'll close it in a day or two.
