Volume control set to mute on startup

I am curious as to why the volume control is muted on boot. The system sound is set to "No sound". The tech info about my desktop is in my signature.

If you have your sound set to no sound then of course their will be no sound at boot.
At least that is my understanding.

You are correct. I assumed the settings concept of Win XP which only turned off the system sounds but left the volume control on. On closer look, there has to be a selected scheme. Then I set individual sounds in the scheme to "None" and saved the scheme as "something". I will post here again if this is a working solution.
