Need some more help guys. I'm runnin a Win7 Ultimate on 2 computers now. Both have the same AC-97 sound card. The zd8000 HP I'm running, upon the first windows update on it and successfull install of the updated drivers and reboot, the sound works no problem. Now I ran the same setup on my dv1000 and everything ran smoothly except for the sound on it. I've tried all the things mentioned in this thread but i'm not having any luck. Any inputs?
TrePaul86, the best solution that I have found is the one noted above from the HP Business Support Forums. I was so happy that I posted a thread for it on svenforums ZV6000 Audio x64 solved Try these steps please, then let us know what happens (error codes, random noise etc)
Thanks!
Go to Control Panel and check the properties of the audio chipset. It should look something similar to this:
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_309B103C&REV_02
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_309B103C
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_040100
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_0401
Now, in whatever folder you've downloaded a driver to, open the .inf file and look for something similar to what I put above and add the next line. Close the notepad window and save your changes. Rerun the installer. That should work. It worked for me on my DV8305.
Does what you're talking only apply to 64-bit systems or does it also work with 32-bit systems?
Ok I found that .inf file and started to add the string, but when I clicked on my hw ID, I had 2 strings, not one... Do I add them both in? Or just one?
Ok so to be more specific, when I click on Hadware Ids I get these two:
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_103C30A0&REV_1000
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_103C30A0
Now I tried to input the string under [Conexant] I used this:
%*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,<x>
But what I realized is on my HW Ids I had the HDAUDIO\ not PCI\
These are what my two strings look like in the .inf file:
%*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_308B103C
%*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD_DF,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_308E103C
I tried to change the HDAUDIO\ to PCI\ then saving and then tried to install the driver manually from that file and still no go. When I run the manual install, I get the error message that says "The system cannot find the file specified"
Any suggestions?
Alright sorry for the overpost in the thread, but it's all related to the OP's question. So here's where I'm at again.
I uninstalled all the audio drivers and wiped the SWsetup folder and then ran the sp34634.exe audio driver installer. Of course came back failed so I went in and edited the "cpl308Ba.inf" file with the [Conexant] strings.
Added in as a 3rd line of "%*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,<x>"
And for the <x> I first tried "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_103C30A0&REV_1000
" and let it run and it actually ran a lot longer trying to install then the first few attempts. So then I went in and changed the string to look like this:
PCI\VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_103C30A0&REV_1000
Replacing the HDAUDIO\FUNC_01& to a simple PCI\. That way it matched the other 2 strings above it. Still ran about the same time trying to install and both cases I just tried came back with the same error message:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
Now I'm stuck. I just want sound!
TrePaul86: just to clarify, you have downloaded the conexant ac-97 driver and not the HD driver? the HD driver will NOT work, ever. Also, restart your computer and smash F8 and select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" and see if that does anything. And one more thing: are you installing the drivers manually via Device Manager or are you using the setup program that came with it? If you are using the setup program don't, just do it manually.
And yea, using the HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_103C30A0&REV_1000
was incorrect, since you don't have HD Audio on your dv1000. You need to use the PCI string.
Lastly, make sure that your PCI\VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_103C30A0&REV_1000 isn't listed under the "flags" section. That will block installation.
Good luck, let us know
Where is the "flags" section? I'm going to download and extract the sp34634.exe again, but not install, restart the computer and do what you said with "disable driver signature enforcement. I've been trying to install manually, but no luck... This is so frustrating!
