Issue with updated VIA HD Audio Driver

So today I was having issues with my headphones, (it was working fine a couple days ago, and it's not the headphones, its my computer) with hearing one side louder than the other. So I went to check it out, and my headphones weren't being detetced! So I decided to download a new driver for this device VIA the asus site for my own computer product, dated back in 2012. So I installed it, and everything seemed handy and dandy. Till BOTH the speakers and headphones played at the same time! I tried going into the HD vdeck myself, but it had no option to opt out. There is a revived thread below about my issue, but it's about Realtek and not VIA HD audio.

Example: When I plug in my headphones, audio comes in correctly through my headphones, but tiny bits of sound come out from my laptop speaker when I adjust the headphone sound. But then I adjust my speaker sound, and sound goes through my headphones, but very low, and my speaker sounds normal and fine again.

Really confused what to do at this point.

And I guess the update did help? Because now my speakers are now actually sounding like speakers. It's really weird but it's working I guess.

Edit: Now, my headphones aren't even working anymore. When I plug in my headphones it just enhances the sound of my speaker. Why? I don't even know...

Edit: Now it seems if I mute my speakers, the sound goes through my headphones. How do I just make it so when ever I plug in my headphones, it silences the speakers?

Try a system restore prior to the issue and see if that helps.

I have tried but it gives me the same issue. Actually, all I need is an updated version of the VIA program, but I can't seem to have it anywhere. The official VIA site is more outdated then the asus VIA version, and the asus VIA version is still outdated as well. The newer VIA version has an option to opt out of sound coming from the speakers, I have seen it on some forums around on asus, but I couldn't find a updated link to it. Currently I have the VIA version at the official site, and it seems to solve my problem for now. But it's really quite irritating when ever I start my computer, it always asks me to run VIA, TWICE. It pops up TWICE during my start up which is very very irritating. And the older VIA version from the official site doesn't seem to recognize the headphones, but the newer ASUS version recognizes, but the audio plays from both speaker, and the headphones! And sometimes I don't even hear audio from either the speaker, or the headphones! It's extremely aggravating. Right now i'm using the one from the official VIA site for now so I can actually use my headphones. But I'm hoping maybe you can help me find the new updated drivers. I think that's the resolution to my problem!

    Current VIA official version:

    Codec Version: VT1820P
    Driver Version: 6.0.10.1200

    ASUS Via version:

    Codec Version: VT1820P
    Driver Version:V6.0.01.10600

Ah! This seemed to fix my issue quite nicely. Now I won't have to deal with the annoying pop up each start up. Thank you c:

I had the same issue myself yesterday with my soundcard driver :) Simple things go by sometimes.

    Glad it helped.
