Speaker jack works but the left (of 2 speakers) doesn't output sound

So the two speakers I use for my computer are not completely working. When plugged into my computer, the main speaker with the controls and stuff gives out sound but the other speaker doesn't.

I tried plugging the speakers instead into my phone and both speakers had sound coming out, so I thought it's probably the audio jack on the computer that is the problem.

Is there any way to maybe replace the jack or use the other jacks on the computer for the speakers?

    Hi Questionerer,

Seen as though you have tested with your mobile phone and sound IS coming out of your two speakers, it is safe to say that the speaker is not at fault.

I think that your computer is outputting sound panned right, in other words its only sending the audio information to the left side speaker.

To help you with this problem and to eliminate any driver problems please can you do the following:

    1. Go to: Start > Type: msconfig.exe - Press Enter
    2. Go to the tab 'Boot'
    3. Bottom of the window there are check-boxes, tick the one called 'Boot log'
    4. Press Apply/OK
    5. Shutdown the PC
    6. Wait 10 seconds
    7. Turn on PC
    8. Go to - C:\Windows and find a file called ntbtlog.txt
    9. Upload this file to this thread

    Thanks

Okay, upon restart of the computer (which I hadn't tried yet), the second speaker is working again.

But I'll also post the files.

So has the problem been resolved?

Yes, I suppose it has. I am still curious why the problem occurred in the first place, though.

Maybe a bad temp file somewhere in the system?

Or maybe simply re-plugging in the cable did it?

Now that this has been resolved please use the Mark this thread as solved link at the top of your thread.

    Thanks,
