SB Live! 24-bit Line-In Lagging Problem

Hello, everyone. This is my first post so I apologize for any wrongdoing.

I installed Windows 7 on my computer the other day (I had been previously using XP Professional SP3). When I was using XP, I was able to plug in my guitar to the Line-In (blue) input on the back of my SoundBlaster card and I could hear it no problem in the audio settings if I unmuted it in the volume settings.

I saw that the Line-In was 'currently unavailable' on this machine, but I did something (I don't quite remember sorry) to get it to work. I can now hear my guitar through the computer. However, there's a delay between when I play the guitar, and when I hear it on the computer. I didn't have this problem on XP.

Does anyone know/have any suggestions of things I can try? I tried to update the drivers, but the computer said the best drivers were already installed, and I can't roll back the drivers.

    Thanks for your time.

Is there an audio creation mode for your sound card?

You can also try disabling all sound enhancing features.

There is also a media creation oriented Linux distribution (seem to be a problem with the site at the moment, puredyne . org) maybe you would like to check that out.
