Hi. Did this ever get resolved?
Sorry for the late answer, the answer is sadly no.
Gutted. There are so many threads like this with no resolution found. I just replaced my PSU on top of all the other possible fixes I've tried, as everything was pointing in that direction. My heart sank the first time the crackling started again. Resigned myself to having to live with it now. How frustrating.
Thanks for getting back anyway.
Yeah, the PSU would be my next try. The crackling problems got worse now, haha. What a joke.
I also upgraded on Win10, didnt help either.
Think I'll start a new thread with my specific problem and see if anyone has any more ideas. Cheers.
Now one last suggestion is that you check very carefully (as you can) the joints, caps, and other components for any sign of loose fitting cards stcikc etc, dry joints - that is to say any components that look to be unattached properly to the motherboard, and bulging, leaking and/or burnt caps - that goes for any scorching on the motherboard itself (it will smell bad) .
A very tedious process and some of the caps may be hidden under the cooler plate for the CPU and some VERY small.
Edit Don't forget to check out any port sockets too ie USB
I'm pretty sure I got an electrical crack/flash from my front USB 3 port a few weeks ago whilst disconnecting a device...Must investigate
Yes well those ports do carry power as you well know and some more current than others for charging external devices. So that flash you described may quite well have sent surge back through the system and components being so small these days some could have been damaged.
I once had an issue like yours, but it only affected recordings.
It turns out that one of the program's dll files wasn't installing correctly.
It would only install correctly ~25% of the times it was attempted.
I fix the problem. I have same Sound crackling, clicking etc, and my motherboard ASRock Z77 Performance. I was replaced with new motherboard MSI Z77A-GD65, and no crackling sound anymore.
So many people have this crackling sound with ASRock motherboard. No ASRock motherboard anymore...
