Win7 RealTek HD failure with DVD
DFI Mobo with RealTek ALC885 HD on-board, Win 7 loaded last week. Using Gigabyte graphic 1G card (nVidia 9600GT) w/built in HDMI. Audio and video of sample files that came pre-loaded with Win7 or since accessed from the Internet look/sound great on HDMI playback. DVD video perfect using WMC or 3rd party player. But sound was a loud screaching sound from all playback packages, would make a great alarm! Again, ONLY on DVD playback. Audio disks or PVCD disks played fine. Updated RealTek drivers to 11/2 version - screach still there in WMC, but 3rd party packages now have no audio at all. Ripped a DVD and only 1 of 3 ripper packages produced a file that PowerDVD could play w/sound. So the audio stream is coming through or I couldn't be ripping it and playing back. Just want to play a basic DVD. Same lack of output on blu-ray. Using Lite-On iHES208 SATA drive.
