Exactly. It's no good buying a top of the range motherboard only to find that there is a complete lack of support for on-board peripherals. One of the important things to look for when buying motherboards is driver support, either from the manufacturer and/or the component manufacturer. A motherboard may have some great features, but unless the support is there in the form of driver updates to correct any problems, I tend to steer clear.

Reminds me of precisely why I ditched my ASRock X48 board...

The latest incarnation R239, once installed, prevents the microphone working on my Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 within the Logitech Vid IM application (doesn't affect Messenger or other applications I tried...) which isn't all that useful...

Rolling back to R234 where everything was sweet...

I can't even get the Logitech software (neither v1.0 from CD nor v1.1 LWS110_x64.exe from download) to install on my Win7 Pro 64-bit system.

Seems to get started, asks me to plug in the webcam (a newly purchased QuickCam Orbit/Sphere AF) which I do, the USB actions occur and the drivers get installed, the camera gets recognized and the right name appears, push NEXT, I leave the option checked to install Logitech Vid software and push NEXT, then cement wall!

Message box telling me that "we were not able to install the software, due to any of the following reasons:

    1. note enough disk space
    2. another install is in progress
    3. you do not have permission to install software on this computer
    4. your installation media is damaged
You can restart your computer and attempt the software installation again.

Obviously, a problem with the Win7 64-bit installer. Talked with Logitech and they have no idea... never heard of it. I'm still waiting for a call-back from 2nd-level.

However... the drivers for the webcam DID seem to truly get installed, and the device is actually usable with Skype.

Microphone on the camera (as well as speakers) works fine with Skype application, with brand new Realtek 2.39 just installed (ALC883 chip, Supermicro C2SBX board).

v2.39 works perfectly for me... AND THE EQUALIZER IS FINALLY BACK!!!!!!

Maybe I'm missing something but I can't find the equalizer ANYWHERE with 2.39 installed. If someone has found it, please tell me where it is or if it even exists...

Truthfully I really miss the old XP Realtek HD Audio Manager...
