The R273 changes the look of the RealTek HD Audio Manager for both Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1

Here are the Screen Shots. The second screen is the option screen and this is accessed by the "gear" icon in the upper right of the main screen. I assume mine shows "ASUS" as that is the motherboard (P8Z77 LE Plus) and the original drivers were from ASUS.

I was just posting the new panels that RealTek has, for those that are interested. There has already been a question on it on the Win 8 forum.

I wouldn't absolutely bet on the fact that this "new interface" will occur for everybody with all motherboards and Realtek chips.

As you can see from my post in this thread late last year when I was building my own new machine based on an ASUS P8Z77-V Pro board (with Realtek ALC892 chip), this "exotic" Realtek HD Audio Manager interface has been around for a long time. But when I tried installing the very same driver package on my other older machine which was based on an ASUS P5Q3 board, I received the old standard interface I'd always received.

Something in the Realtek interface had apparently sensed the chipset, and the Z77 implementation was seemingly part of the equation that determined whether or not the new interface appeared.

I see that you, too, have a Z77-based board from ASUS. So that may be why you're seeing this now but never did before. Or, perhaps they decided to use this new interface for 2.73 going forward, for all boards.

I will upgrade my old P5Q3 machine (with its P45 chipset and ALC1200 Realtek chip) to 2.73 and see if the interface becomes the new one or remains the old one as was true last year when I tried this same experiment with the 2.70 drivers of that time.

Well, turns out that Realtek DID implement that new user interface in 2.73 for what would appear to be all chipsets (at least from ASUS), or at least more than just the Z77.

Although last year the 2.70 HD Audio Manager had the new look on my P8Z77-V Pro, it did not on my P5Q3. But, now with 2.73 on my old P5Q3, it looks identical to how it is on my P8Z77... i.e. the new look as well.

So the old orange icon in System Tray for HD Audio Manager has now been replaced by a spiffy black speaker:

And the main interface window looks like this:

Note that they've changed how the sliders work (at least on my P5Q3 machine). They do not respond to the keyboard up/down arrow keys to move them 1 notch at a time without the mouse. Instead, they MUST be "pulled" by the mouse selecting them. This is less convenient than being able to also use the keyboard if desired. I'll have to see if 2.73 on my P8Z77 works the same way because I know specifically that the up/down arrow keys DO work on my P8Z77 with an older driver than 2.73 installed.

But at least when you select+drag the slider, a flyout tooltip shows the numeric +/- value, so that you can actually see what you've pushed the slider to. Of course you have to select the slider for the tooltip to appear, and it would have been very convenient if simply hovering the mouse over the slider would reveal the same tooltip. Perhaps in the next release they'll fix this, as well as activating the keyboard up/down arrow keys as an alternative slider adjuster.

Nevertheless... this is the NEW LOOK!!

    Final comment...

I was wrong. Before installing 2.73 on my P8Z77 machine I checked the EQ slider interface, and I was mistaken in my comment above. Turns out even 2.70 does not have up/down arrow key controls for adjusting the EQ sliders. Of course IT SHOULD, but it didn't. So 2.73 performs no differently here.

Otherwise, the new look of HD Audio Manager does now appear to be implemented as part of general 2.73 for all motherboards and chips (at least the two that I have).

Every time I install one of these realtek drivers, I end up rolling it back.

Due to my spdif connected Sony 5.1 dolby surround amp plays only stereo.
Says stream is PCM 48 only, not dolby digital 3/2.1

    Why does it do that?
I see a setting in realtek for sound output which I set to 48k etc...
The Sony receiver manual says if higher than 48k, it only plays stereo.

I must have installed and rolled back 5 times over the last month just to see if I can make it work.

I tried it again and got it working.
I simply right clicked the entry in device manager and updated. Windows installed realtek.

I see no fancy display, which one do I have, is it old?

So... I just created an account on this website... because I have no sound... I've been trying for months to solve it but nothing.
Already formated my pc 3 times.

I tried to install this and nothing, nothing changed, nothing new appears on the devices managers... just nothing, help?
