I was able to get the R2.78 by downloading from the Taiwan site. The first time, I downloaded from the Global site and got the R2.77 instead of R2.78.

Official Realtek HD Audio 6.0.1.7512 WHQL (R278) date: May 21, 2015

    Vista, Win7, Win8, Win8.1, Win10 driver for x64 & x86
    Driver version: RTKVHD64.sys : 6.0.1.7512
The RTKVHD64.SYS file is used only under 64bit Windows Vista/7/8/10 systems.
On 32bit Windows OSes the RTKVHDA.SYS file is used instead.

I'll get the R2.78 package tomorrow from either Realtek when their servers aren't busy.
Otherwise I'll get it from either Majorgeeks.com or Softpedia.com.

I can't get it to show in devmgr.

    Downloaded from TW site.

PSCO2007, download R2.78 from Majorgeeks, Softpedia or FileHippo if the Realtek TW site doesn't work for you.

BTW, Microsoft did slightly better than Realtek R2.78 (6.0.1.7512). Version 6.0.1.7514 (5/19/2015) available from Microsoft Update Catalog.
    (32bit/x86 download) (x64/64bit download)

    WHQL for Windows Vista/7/8.x/10.
Extract all the files from the CAB file and use Device Manager & pick the correct INF file to install the Realtek audio driver.

Hey all, need help with something.

I downloaded the 6.0.1.7514 version from MS Update Catalog (link above). Then:
    - Opened device manager and r.click update the driver for Realtek High Definition Audio.
    - Browsed to the folder and it found the driver
    - After installing the driver, it asked for a restart
    - I decided I could do it later, and continue using the PC
    - Sometime later, for a completely unrelated matter the PC froze and I had to perform a hard reset.
    - Now after each log in I get a warning -> Open File - Security Warning - Do you want to run this file? for RAVCpl64.exe.

    - Did I fail to install it properly or just a problem from the hard reset?
    - Should I just re-install with above method or need to do something else? :)

    Thanks

All I get is "application not found".

I feel like an idiot now I had the "always ask when opening" ticked. So simple stuff hehe.

Another question though: do I need this running for transition between headphones (Logitech USB - has own soundcard) and Speakers?
