The 7796 downloads from MS have been listed but are not working - generates the following error message when attempting to actually download any of them:

The website has encountered a problem
    [Error number: 8DDD0010]
There is a problem with the page you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.
Please try the following: Contact the Web site administrator and inform them that this error has occurred for this Web page address.
This has been happening for almost 2 straight days.
In the meantime, the full v6.0.1.7796 driver package can be downloaded from this Softpedia drivers page until Microsoft fixes the problem with the v7796 downloads.

while the v7796 downloads were a BIG EPIC FAIL from Microsoft, there were FOUR downloads listed for v7801 (for both 32bit & 64bit Win7) that actually download from MS Update Catalog.

Version 6.0.1.7806 recently posted at MS Update Catalog.

It looks like the 6.0.1.7796 downloads were not a total failure. There are now FOUR downloads for 7796 but only 2 of them actually work - the ones with 76.7Mb and 92.4Mb in file sizes are the working downloads. The other two produce error messages when trying to download them.

Oops, not for me. I had to install twice. The first time it had the Windows installer say it installed but it was only HD Audio Device in the Device Manager and no icon in the taskbar. Second time around it completed. No one time for me.
    .
If there's a service or a program or driver running in the background, e.g., in the case with the realtek audio driver it's the icon in the taskbar, then unless you "end task" it in task manager before you run the installer, you need to reboot after the installation has finished.

I always check task manager for any running process of the program or driver I am updating first, e.g. taskbar icons and end task what ever is running before I run the update to prevent rebooting. It works most of the time.
