Thanks. It turns out I was looking in the speaker area from the taskbar and not in the control panel. This is far better than the MS Drivers!

when i set my volume to 100% the sound starts the crack but once its lowered to 50% its fine... ....i wonder if any1 else is having this issue??
Ok... I was heaving some... clicks... and others noises.. like lags in the middle of the songs... with this 2.39 version
So I went to the RtHDVCpl.exe and run it in compatibility mode: Vista SP2... and now everything is running smooth now...
You should try it, if having any sound problems...
well i still cant get rid of those crackling sounds...n the worst comes when i watch online streams...the sound is lagging, crackling u name it...it actually happens while listenin to normal mp3 as well ,but in a lower degree...ive got no idea what to do, coz i feel no difference by using the latest drivers...
edit: i just noticed a weird thing... when i go o realtek HD audio manager-->info, it shows audio driver: 6.0.1.6000 ....(as ive mentioned above, ive installed the newest drivers) is that normal?
thx

When you're getting the crackles and pops try opening the Realtek Control Panel.
Something I've noticed in the 32-bit version is that there's some kind of an input device loop going on, the control panel keeps reloading as if the user is changing back and forth between mic and line input. Each time this happens the sound is interrupted with a pop.

Have noticed that since installing the latest driver (R239) that the subwoofer on my Acer 6920 no longer works...it worked fine on all other releases of the Realtek driver but with this update there is no sound from it
You just can't win...there's less snap, crackle and pop with the latest update but the audio now sounds as if it's via a tin bucket on the laptop speakers
On my custom build PC I installed the basic ones as well as the HD ones, I wonder if I can do that on a HP machine.
