Hello Fire, The model is a Flex 15,

Usually i use a pair of skull candies with a on-line microphone, since my computer recognizes it.

And Stereo mix is set as default.

That didn't help as Lenovo documentation doesn't detail exactly what type of jack you have.

What type of plug is the skull candies? Is it the same type as used in an iPhone? which is a Tip/Ring1/Ring2/Sleeve and the headset is probably just the standard tip/ring/sleeve plug. If this is the case that is probably the reason.

The only "audio board" you can use with a Laptop is USB connected audio device.

Has this ever worked correctly with just the headphone?

You can try a USB sound "card" and see if that works. There are some that are relatively inexpensive for testing.
