    Sound Blaster eXFI

    Help,

I am stuggling with getting my sound back. I am running windows 7 64. At first I had no sound whatsoever. Then I was able to get my sound to work by loading up the Daniel K driver. My sound card shows no problems in device manager, but my sound is choppy with a lot of popping and static. Could someone point me in the right direction to fix this?

    Thanks in advance!

Joys of having a Dell OEM card. Those tolls haven't even updated the Vista driver since before (or just after) Vista went RTM back in 2006. Nothing like selling the product, and then not supporting it at all.

Anyway this one may or may not help (been testing them on my Xtreme Music, and they are very good so far), but give this one a try,

SB X-Fi Series AuzenUAA Pack 1.0 (09/30/2009) - Creative Labs

After downloading extract it (it is self-extracting, or you can use something like Winrar if you have it), then go to the Drivers folder and run the Setup.exe found there, this will install just the driver. If that fixes the problems, you can then run the regular installer to install the bits and pieces you want.

Thank you so much for your help Stormy13! You are a saint! I really appreciate your help. I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out ever since last Friday. I wished that I had found this forum a long time ago! Well a lesson learned on my part. I downloaded the file, it unzipped fine, and all I had to do was then change the driver from the service pack 2 to the service pack 1. Thanks so much once again!

Good to hear (no pun intended ).

I just installed that driver myself today. Wasn't having any problems with the previous one(s), just like to test them every now and then. Must say that after playing a bunch of music and testing a couple of games, this driver is a keeper for me so far.

Almost forgot, if you have a 5.1 setup, you have to go through the speaker re-assignment as shown in that link, or it will only play in 2/2.1.
