As you recently installed an item, check that all cables and speaker connections are fully connected.

I agree, installing a network card should not affect your sound at all.

I also would not go uninstalling and installing and what not when it was working fine before.

If you remove (uninstall) the network adapter will the sound come back? Worth a test to see.

OK. That says the network adapter was not the problem and it was just coincidental.

Next step, post a screenshot of the Device Manager, Sound, Video and Game Controllers section.
Also are there any other devices that are showing an error.

Most likely this is not your problem... but one time I spent a lot of time troubleshooting audio problems, and felt foolish when I found out what the problem turned out to be.

Not sure what audio that your trying to play is, but if by chance it's youtube videos.... take a look at their video player and make sure the volume isn't muted on their player. I would do this for any media player your using just to rule it out.

The other thing I would do is right click on the speaker in the system tray, select playback devices, and make sure your computer speakers are selected as the default device.

Yes, make sure the "Speakers" are set as the default audio playback device. If you have an HDMI connection or even an HDMI cable connected to the PC, Windows will automatically change the playback device to the HDMI and thus no speaker audio.
