    Headset being detected as speakers.

I turned my PC on a couple of days ago and my headset was being detected as speakers, No sound coming from them at all, Yes my drivers are up to date, Yes I have it plugged in correctly, I've tried windows FixIt and still nothing, I tried troubleshooting audio and it didn't detect anything, I've tried SFC /scannow and still nothing, Its strange since I turned my PC off working perfectly and the next day I have these problems, I didn't download anything prior to this happening except a game update, Also I've made sure it isn't my headset that is broken, Even when I try talk with its built in mic, It doesn't pick up anything I say, I have literally tried so much stuff and nothing works... Please help

Welcome to the forum. Model of the headset, and how its attached to the PC? If it's USB have you tried another USB port for it?

Uninstall the drivers for the device then go into the device manger and find the device under sound or usb devices and and right click it and uninstall it there too and check the box that says remove software if it is there then reboot. Then install whatever is freshest driver from there site, lets start with this. Also you should use the rear ports if you can as that will let more power to the device normally (sometimes fronts have issues).

If you could also fill out your specs on the site that would help too.

Can you test the headset on another pc to make sure it still works correctly, the issue with it stopping is normally driver related. But what do you mean windows media player not working, it says it can not find a playback device? If you want you can try a system restore to a day before the incident.

Yes the headset works, I've tested it on other PC's, The windows Media player problem is a totally different problem, I can't play videos that are on my computer, That problem happened the same day my audio got jacked up, Honestly I might just get another windows key and having a fresh start so all these problems are gone..

You wouldn't need a new key just do a repair install or a clean install with the current one, but I would certainly try the system restore first.
