Headset Razer Carcharias isnt recognized by the system

    Hi,
As the title suggest, my problem is that my headset isnt recognized by my MSI GE60 notebook with w7 HP 64bit when I plug it in into 3,5 jack, it goes for both (green and pink one). (this headset doesnt have usb).
I can hear sound in it without a problem but when I want to record sound through the microphone in audacity or speak through it via teamspeak etc it doesnt work because I cant set the proper device as it isnt recognized and therefore doesnt show up in the menu.
I installed latest windows updates and also installed following drivers for audio:
    Realtek DRIVER VERSION: R 2.79
Driver Version in Device Manager: 6.0.1.7541

None of this helped, I also found a solution which required to choose: "Make front and rear output devices play two different audio streams simultaneously" in realtek HD audio manager but mine doesnt have device advanced settings for some reason so I couldnt try this way of solving the problem.

Any suggestion would be welcome as I dont know what else to try :/

Do you have another PC or a friend's PC that you can try the mic part? First thing is to make sure it works.

I will try it today on sister's notebook. I just need to install a program there which I wanna use for recording so I can test it. But I am pretty sure it will be some kind of SW problem because the mic worked fine like a year ago when I last used it and I didnt do anything with it and when I tried sis sony headphones on my notebook, they werent recognized either in "manage audio devices" under control panel.

Yep works fine on her notebook. She uses windows 10 and I couldnt see it in audio devices either but it worked nevertheless.

Next step, even though you have installed new drivers, go to the Device Manager and uninstall the Realtek sound. DO NOT uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. If there were any Windows sound corruptions (and there can be even though the drivers were reinstalled) this will fix them.

Problem solved. In the end it was caused by my lack of observation skills I completely missed a relatively small button which is on the other side of bigger scrolling one which controls sound and it was in a position that mic. was turned off. I accidently found it when I was commuting by train today of all things...
But anyway thx for the reply.
