cd r wont write

i have a samsung external cdr writer i tried to burn audio files to cd r but it comes out unplayable , but when i do this with the cd rw it works fine> anyone know why ? and please help me , i'm an older gent with not very much computer savy. thank you in advance

i'm using windows media player i also use mediamonkey how do i lower speed and why does it work with cd rw

seems my samsung burner does not recognise maxell cdr's how do i fix this

You can make one type of "audio" CD that might hold 200 mp3s, limited only by the Megabytes capacity of the CD. The capacity is usually around 700 MB and MP3s are usually around 3 MB, so you could fit 200 mp3s on one CD. Such a disc is just a "data" disc, but can play mp3s on some playback equipment.

You might be trying to make another type of "audio" CD that is limited by running time in minutes--usually around 80 minutes. A typical song might last 3 minutes, so you probably can't get over 25 or 30 songs on a CD.

Which of those 2 things are you trying to do?

I think that's what Fireberd is driving at when he asked you "are you making an Audio CD or MP3 CD?"

my appoligies i am making a mp3 cdr it works fine with my memorex cdr rw but the maxell cdr doesn't play after recording could it be my samsung external writer can't record or recogzine the maxell cdr's

It's much more likely a matter of your technique or settings.

I've made hundreds of music CDs, but I've never used Windows Media Player and have never used an external writer, so it's tough for me to say where you have gone wrong.

ok i really do appreciate the help very much . I believe your right it has to do with my settings as i do remember making many maxell cdr's before with this writer , but when i recently moved and hooked evrything up i must have done something wrong tahnk you again for the help .
