I cannot get my wired speakers to work pc says they are not connected

I recently got speakers for my new computer and i have trouble getting them to work on my new computer. It says when i plug them in that the device does not appear to be plugged in.

Also when i went into dxdiag it said that my computer does not have a sound card so is it a issue with the os or do i need to buy a sound card? where would i buy a sound card if a needed one and how would i install it? or do i just need to download a driver?

I have all these games on my pc yet no sound.

    Sorry I missed your post.

What is listed in the Device Manager, Sounds section? Posting a screenshot of that panel would help.

Also, what type of speakers do you have? Do they connect to the green speaker jack on the rear? or are they USB type?

Keep in mind the speakers actually are plugged in and they are plugged into the wall so it is not a power issue.

As I see it you do not have the correct sound driver installed for the PC's sound hardware. Only thing listed is "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus.

The AMD High Definition Audio Device is for HDMI audio ONLY.

Find out from the PC builder what the sound hardware is (for example Realtek, Connexant, etc) and then install the correct sound driver.

One other option, download and run the free SPECCY program and it will list the make and model of the motherboard. Post that here and I can look up what is on the motherboard.
Speccy - System Information - Free Download

The AMD HDMI would not be the issue since you have "regular" PC speakers.
