Audio on computer displays it's working but no audio is coming through

I recently encountered this problem I was on windows 10 but I decided to do a fresh install mind having to put over like 6,000 files on to a uploading website cause I do youtube, editing etc whatever and so it first started out as like when I would max out the speakers it would do like a distortion/crackling problem for example I was watching one of pewdiepie's videos and when he said something or something loud happened its like the sound got inverted like if you've ever been inside a bar you can hear all the music but when you're outside it's like faded/distorted etc, then i tried to mess around with the settings in the control panel of the sound and when i changed the audio setting the audio is now completely gone and I even tried putting it back and applied it, and it's still absolutely no sound now. So I did a fresh install and it's still doing the same thing i'm on a hp probook 6560b model, and i've had it for awhile now. Basically the problem is when i play a video or play any type of sound on the computer like when I bring up the sound it says like the audio is playing like the audio bar is moving up and down, and yes it's not muted i've had computers for awhile now i'm not new and like I said up there I even tried to mess with the settings i've uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers, i'm completely up to date with all my drivers besides the audio driver cause with the hp probook 6560b model it will not let me update to the 2016 I can only do one driver from 2012 called like IDT High Definition Audio Driver 6.10.6433.0 10/24/2012. So if anyone knows a solution or is willing to help me please comment cause I really would like my audio back I need my laptop for tons of stuff like I said I do youtube, and I also stream on twitch. and i've never had to go to forums like this cause I can usually fix it myself in fact thats why i'm helping somebody currently with their computer right now so PLEASE HELP! thank you!

Hello and welcome Nazohh mate just how did you do a clean install - from a Microsoft media disk, stick , download?? Because if you had all your data saved you could have done a factory restore and that would of course lose the data but put the machine back to out of the factory condition.

Now you say you can only find the audio driver for 2012 but this one is 2013 try it Drivers & Software for HP ProBook 6560b Notebook PC - HP Support Center.

Yes that is in fact the driver i have it just says 2012 when i look in device manager, I have tried going back to a old point but the oldest was only like 7/6/2016 or something and I tried it and some others and it failed to go back. So I ended up resetting windows fully doing a complete install of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit from the dvd/cd whatever, I have never had this problem until now if i remember correctly the speakers were weird like i was watching a video and it got like more faded/distorted and i decided to try and change the studio quality or quality of audio you know like tweak around in the settings of playback and usually that works but nope it ended up completely making my sound work.. Now I actually have figured out that i can use headphones but I only have these certain pair of old turtlebeach x12 headset from my xbox 360 mind i'm on xbox one now, and it is completely broken so i have to tilt my head just to use it and it hurts my neck, and i also cant use any other earbuds cause my headphone jack output whatever was already messed up to begin with like it does not pickup any earbuds the only one is that one that i can use or a very specific kind idk.. i just would really like my audio back.

Ok so you have a genuine copy of Windows 7 (DVD) if I am reading this right? or did you use some other form of restore media because the majority of factory made machine have a special partition on the drive that one can use to restore the machine back to factory condition but doing that loses all data and programs that the owner has installed. You can also restore the machine by using the rescue dsik that one can make when acquiring the machine. So could you please clarify just what you used please.

Moreover there have been a lot of folks who have upgraded or what to 10 not liked it and have gone back to 7 and on the whole I reckon most of them have done that with no issues or at least very few. But if you are one of the few that have real issues then I am of the belief that having 10 on the drive that originally was 7 then it leaves remnants of 10 that cause problems.

Personally if I do anything like that I always use a new drive or at very least clean the original drive using DISKPART so that I know the drive is as clean as it can be - having said that using clean all with diskpart is even more thorough but much longer to do. Even better I clone the original drive and use the cloned drive to experiment with because it things go belly up then one always has the original drive to use.

Having said all this it seems to me that the drives for the audio are in some disarray or that the sockets may be faulty - at the board connection or the contacts inside them.

Ok now thinking on depending on your budget or having a really good friend can you try some new phones?? because it may be something to do with the voice coils inside the phone head pieces or the soldered connections in there. Further it could even be the cable to the phones as you did say they were quite old now.

Well young fellow I am sorry I didn't live a little closer because I have a collection of phones that would make anyone's nose bleed LOL!! and I would gladly give you a couple of sets and also a spare audio system - Logitec Z313 which is just gathering dust but them's the breaks.

I am impressed that you are going to get a job of some sort to get your dream machine - not many are keen on doing that it seems to this old fellow right now.

Anyway good luck for the future I am sure sometime will turn up.

Yes well for around the $3K mark you should be bale to build a bit of a beast even for $2K you should get something very capable.

Now the thing to remember is to research everything thoroughly first and ask in here for advice and opinions on what you decide to go with. You will of course get members like myself who are fans of Intel and NVidia and there will be others that have their own ideas like AMD processors and graphics. In other words don't just go jumping in and buying the most expensive and flashiest looking parts you need the machine to do what you want it to do not just look pretty.
