Have lost ability to output multichannel audio formats

Hi all,

A newbie here so apologies if this question has been covered before.

I have recently lost the ability to pass anything other than 2 channel stereo via my displayport output on a mini pc used as a HTPC and have tried everything I can think of without success.

Set up is a Fujitsu esprimo q520, running an intel graphics and audio card which came with the pc. Displayport to Hdmi into a hdmi matrix which takes the audio via optical into a meridian 568 processor and the video into a Samsung tv via hdmi.i have kodi on the pc which acts as the media centre and it has an internal DVD drive.

I had the same problems initially when the setup was first established, namely in the playback devices area which is where the intel display audio device is selected, into properties and supported formats tab only showed 2 channels with no additional encoded formats listed under such as Dolby, dts etc. I googled profusely and saw similar issues with others usually suggesting downloading the newest drivers for the soundcard etc. so went through a number of processes including latest drivers from intel, windows 7 codec pack installs, new cables etc. I eventually tried playing a couple of Dolby files via WMC and it seemed to kick start things, with all the encoded formats and multi-channel options such as 5.1, 7.1 etc. now showing proudly in the devices panel. All was well and I was able to access dts and Dolby via both DVD playback from the onboard DVD drive and streamed sources via kodi.

Last thursday we had a thunder storm and lost power to our home, which knocked off the pc which I have in standby mode at all times as it also feeds flac to my music streaming devices over LAN. When I booted the pc back up for some reason all audio settings have now reverted back to 2 channel stereo, with no encoded formats present in the supported formats tab of the playback device panel. I've tried playing dolby files through WMC but they are playing in 2 channel PCM mode only now. Also tried changing the settings in the windows 7 codec pack dashboard in audio output settings - I can select other options such as 5.1 and digital options such as dts and Dolby, however when I close the dashboard and go back in they have reverted to 2 channel stereo downmix every time.

I've even down a system restore to before the storm but there is no difference. All my enhanced audio options have disappeared, which is bizarre as it was working perfectly a week ago.

Any ideas or suggestions welcome, life in 2 channel mode is pretty dull I must be honest.
