    Sound Advice Please

Good evening, I’m hoping someone from the forum can give me some sound advice, when I say sound I mean it, sound cards etc.

I bought my current PC some years ago (2007) it has on the rear a digital coaxial output (known as a SPDIF I believe). I ran a digital coaxial cable from my PC under the floor (it was being relayed at the time (screed)) as I thought that this was the thing for the future with regards to sound transfer, replacement for analogue phono.

I have a pretty good sound system and love my music, via iTunes on the PC, I thought that would be it for years to come, but no, my PC is getting on a bit so I have been looking for a replacement, can I find a tower with a SPDIF output …. No, can I find a sound card with a SPDIF output, not as of yet.

So I have been thinking of my options, running new cables is a no no as I can’t lift the wood floor then channel out the screed etc..

The next is via Wi-Fi, I was thinking of a Arcam rBlink (wireless DAC), but not knowing fully if this will do the job I thought it best to ask here, as I’m pretty sure someone on the forum will know better than me.

My preferred method would be to run with what I have via digital coaxial, but I cannot find the right card, does anyone else have any suggestions.

    Many Thanks in advance Swamps

Yep, today most motherboards come with Toslink, no coaxial.

Both are fine, but in your case Toslink would not help.
