how to disable sound when pressing spacebar?
If my displays are off, but the computer hasn't gone to sleep yet, I can press the spacebar to turn on the displays. When I do that I get a "Default Beep" sound. How can I disable that?

Hi
"Default Beep" is window sound default.
Go to Control Panel --> Select Hardware and Sound --> Select Sound
At the Sound window --> select Sound
In this window, all these refer to sound and under Events: Go thru all
Select any event which you want to change, click on it.
And below Sounds: select any kind of sound you want to here, or to differentiate, click on the drop down menu.
Most are standard and default; as if you do not want any sound for a particular event, click and choose the top option: (None).
After making all the changes you prefer, at the top Sound Scheme: Save as; to a name. Do not save using the Window Default.
You can use the Mouse by just move a bit, the display will turn on, as the safest method i use.
Eric.
I've looked through the sound settings but I'm not sure which one applies to what I want to change.
My guess is the Device Connect sound.
But i expect it will turn off this sound for all devices, not just the monitor.
You can play around with the sound.
I would say it is "Default Beep" as what you mentioned.
Then all events that have "Default Beep" will not have that beep sound.
Do take note on this, but it do not make any difference, as it is only on one that event.
Each events do have different sound.
Edit: Should any program that use this "Default Beep" will no longer have that beep sound.
There is one more setting, but let me check again.
As i forgot to mentioned this is event and not related to the spacebar or that event when the sound is heard.
Eric.
Hi
Do return to "Windows Default" setting.
Sorry, i overlook something.
It is based on event.
The event you are referring to is to wake up the screen.
For this, i may have to check again.
For the time being, use Mouse, as this is the best option, i have been using it for years.
As i do not like to use touch keyboard.
I have to check further.
Eric.

Hi Havoc
Sorry my mistake.
I am using laptop may be different as the mouse is using USB, so it may not be the same.
Restart and go to F2 BOIS setting.
Go to Power Management
Go to Keyboard
Toggle to Disable
Save setting.
In this way, whenever you press on the keyboard on any keys, it should be no default beep sound.
Please reset the Sound back to original Windows Default.
Try it.
Eric.

Hi Havoc
This should be correct, ignore others, except post #2 and this post should do.
You can play around with the sound.
I would say it is "Default Beep" as what you mentioned.
Sorry to confuse you.
Try out to see it works or not.
Eric.
I'm thinking there may be a setting in the advanced power options but I don't see it.
