    Canīt detect headset

    Hello,

I have a problem with my headset, I plug my headet in yet I cannot see it in playback devices and cannot get them to work. It connects with a green and a pink pin (I'm not sure what they're called, I hope you know what i mean).
But my speakers do actually work fine.
Please help me! I'm desperate at the moment.

Welcome to seven forums lazor18. The green is line out sound, Pink is your microphone. Are you using onboard sound or an addon sound card? It would also help if you'd fillin your system specs. Under user Cp (top of page) go to edit system specs. This will help to know what your hardware is.
Where are you plugging into? The same port as your speakers or on the front panel?

Some HD audio driver suites install a Control Panel Applet you may need to tweak to make the front audio ports behave in the fashion you would like them to :)

I filled in most of my hardware now, what is left empty i couldn't find on my specifications, also my speakers are connected in the front panel by USB, I can connect my headset both in the front panel or in the back but it doesn't matter they don't work either way. Thanks.

USB speakers, that's probably the problem right there. USB audio devices use their own driver completely separate from a sound card (whether onboard or a card).

Did you install the the driver for the onboard audio? You will also need to open the Windows Playback properties and switch the default playback device from the USB speakers to the onboard for the headphones to work.

Could this be the problem? (view attachment pic) is the unknown device the headset? Stormy13, the headset doesn't show up in playback devices

Not sure what the "unknown device" is, but you haven't installed the drivers for your onboard audio (Via VT1708B). You can get the driver for it from here,

    ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

And headphones plugged into a sound card will never show up in Device Manager, you need to look here,

to see it (assuming your sound card supports jack detection and will actually show it as headphones).

Mine can't detect either speaker or headset. Windows have installed the driver automatically and it says it works fine. But when i plugged in my headphones it doesnt detect it. It says that headphones are not plugged in. This problem appear win i reformat my computer and upgrade to windows 7. Before this i used windows xp and it works fine.
