Can I delete dBpoweramp through RegEdit?

Hi

Sometime ago GetPopupInfo.exe . . . C:\Program Files (x86)\Illustrate\dBpoweramp
was using huge amounts of CPU.

I didn't want to delete it, so to stop it I thought I'll just remove ".exe" from what I thought
was the main file name.

Problem is I cannot find that file now in the folder.

If I could, I could have added .exe back and deleted normally.

I looked in SysInternals (like Windows Task Manager) and found that GetPopupInfo.exe
is still using lots of CPU trying to hunt for a file that doesn't exist.

dBpoweramp is around 16GB.

I have tried deleting through CCleaner but because it doesn't exist - CCleaner can't find it either.

So I'm stuffed.

I've removed programs in the past using RegEdit, that have caused a real problem, just hitting
F3 to find every trace, but I just wanted to check to see if there is another way because of its size.

Best way is to reinstall the program then use the program's uninstaller program or Windows' uninstaller to uninstall the program.

If you try to edit the registry there are usually several (at a minimum) entries that need deleted.

I'm assuming you have clicked explorer.exe to show hidden system files and file extensions; go to that directory, look for a file without an extension, that probably is the exe file you can reAttach the EXE onto.

NOTE: I COULDN'T FIND A WAY TO THANK EACH MEMBER INDIVIDUALLY (probably just me).

1) Thanks fireberd, I'll reinstall the program, seems the safest way to go.

2) Thanks RolandJS - I did have the explorer.exe folder already clicked for
"Show hidden files, folders, and drives"

I will reinstall - and go that way.
