Application Sound is muted when Device Sound is muted

Hi, I use to record through internal system sounds like Windows Media Player or other applications by sound recording application. Previously all had been done well in Windows XP. Now I've tried Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit but facing a strange problem. When muting Windows master or device sound it mutes all application sounds as well. So my sound recorder receives no sound at all. It never happened in Windows XP. I've tried various sound drivers including original one but problem exists. Meanwhile it done well on another system running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit (i.e. application sound is received by sound recording application even master volume is muted). I'm looking for help. Thanks for any assistance.
