Lots of realtime peaks in Cubase

Recently built a new pc, but have lots of audio crackles.
When I especially use Drumazon in Cubase 8.0.40 I get frequent heavy real time peaks.

I7 7700k
16GB Corsair DDR4-2132
MSI B250 PC Mate
Windows 7 x64
MOTU Ultralite mk3

Steps to reproduce:
-Load Cubase, create a new project, add Drumazon as an instrument track. Even when no midi is sent to Drumazon and the internal sequencer is off, I get the peaks already.

Also, when I try to send midi to the Ultralite mk3 midi out, I get a bsod.

When I use LatencyMon I see my usb3 driver as a suspect. Please find a LatencyMon report attached.

Things I tried:
-Re-installed Drumazon, also tried an older version. No change.
-Installed an older USB 3 driver which seems to help slightly.
-Trashed Cubase's preferences.
-Disabled all power saving options in BIOS.
-Switched USB ports.
-Enabled ASIO guard with max settings.
-re-installed audio interface
-Set the ASIO buffer of the Ultralite mk3 at max (1024 samples)

Btw, LatencyMon recognizes my CPU as 420MHz, but it is running on 4400 as verified with HWMonitor.

Also, I sometimes hear crackles and even high beeps when e.g. playing YouTube video's, so the issue is not Cubase/ Drumazon specific. It is however very noticable when using Drumazon in Cubase.

Any idea what's going on?

Windows 10 64 bit

If you are using the MOTU with USB 3.0, that is most likely the problem. I had that problem with an MOTU 896Mk3 Hybrid and there is a large post on the gearslutz forum about MOTU compatibility problems with USB 3.0.

When I first got my MOTU 896Mk3 Hybrid, it replaced a Roland Octa-Capture that worked fine on USB 3.0 port. I used the same USB cable for the MOTU and started having crackles and dropouts. I finally swapped ports with my Behringer X-Touch that happened to be on a USB 2.0 port and no more problems. I swapped them back and the problems returned, swapped them back again to the USB 2.0 port for the MOTU and no more problems.

I recently built a new DAW PC with a Z170 motherboard and i7 6700K. The new motherboard does not have any USB 2.0 ports on the rear I/O panel so I bought a PCIe Firewire card (with T.I. chipset) and I'm using that now. I get the same low latency with the Firewire interface.

No follow up. Can I assume I solved the problem?

CPU Usage abnormally high, sometimes peaks to 100% for no reason.
So this morning everything was fine, my CPU usage was at its normal 20% or so, occasionally up to 40 if I was playing games or something. After coming home this evening however, turning it on again was taking much longer than usual. It took about 15-20 minutes to get to the desktop, and another...
