Realtek Audio volume slider bar won't increase volume. No sound at al

I recently lost all sound on my desktop computer. I have done troubleshooting and it indicates my Realtek Audio is working. It also said it detected low volume and fixed it. However, still no sound. I try to slide the volume bar to 100% but it automatically slides back to 0%. I have updated the driver and it indicates that all is good. Still no sound. I rebooted my computer. Still no sound. I've checked the speakers and connections. Still no sound. I'm getting frustrated. Can anybody help me?

Try plugging your speakers into something else, such as a new computer, a phone, etc, to see if they work there.

Do you have two speaker jacks on your computer? If so, try plugging your speakers into the other speaker jack. For example, there may be one on the front and one on the back of the computer.

If you don't get any further by following the above steps, try logging into Windows as a different user, to see if that solves it.

I checked the speakers, changed speaker jacks and logging in as different user did not work. The volume slider bar just keeps slipping back to 0%, no matter what I do.
