Hi windowhoe, Welcome to 7 forums. If you click on the link below, and then click support, the realtek

audio driver comes up. Hope this helps you.

Hi again, When you get to the support, make sure you pick windows 7 64 bit from the drop down menu

beside driver. Once you have downloaded the driver, you right click the file and extract, take note of where

the file has been extracted to, and then open it, and choose set up, and it will ask you if you wish to install,

click yes, and once it has installed you restart the pc. Hope this explains enough.

so i already had that installed and running but apparently that isnt enough. realtek doesnt even show if i go to control panel. i went to programs and there was only "realtek high definition audio driver" by "realtek semiconductor corp." if i remember correctly there was supposed to be a second program? anyone knows what to do now

Hi again, You can also go to control panel, and beside view, in the drop down menu choose large icon view,

and see if it is there, or type in msconfig in the search box from the startmenu and see if realtek is listed,

and enabled. Does is show up in the system tray at all when you click on the volume speaker?

If I click from the startmenu, computer, local disk C, Program Files, and open Realtek , open audio,

open HDA, further down the realtek audio manager is listed as RtkNGUI64.

Hi again, One more place you can look is under device manager, just type in device manager in start menu

search box, and go down to sound video and game controllers and see what is listed.

Hello windowhoe mate could we have soe syste specs please see this
    SYSTEM SPECS
Now before we can help we do need to know what is in your machine so please do this System Info - See Your System Specs - Windows 7 Help Forums
or either enter the specs of your system in your forum profile the specs will appear when we click on that little box bottom left of the post screen it is for me the preferable option as it is easy. As you may appreciate it is very hard when you don’t know what one is working with for example a diesel or petrol engine.
    *(pretyped to save time)

Am asking because I don't know if your computer is your build (I am assuming not as you say you are not that savvy) or a prebuilt one. Am interested because I get hits for that board number with Asus as well as Gigabyte.

Now is this the driver you downloaded and installed?? GA-B85M-HD3 (rev. 1.x) | Motherboard - GIGABYTE
if so try again but save it first then run it. It might also be an idea to do the chipset driver too - well personally that is what I would do but the choice is yours of course.

Edit: I meant to add try the American download for that Realtek I know it is the same site as Ethel suggested but be specific if the uS one does not work then the European one
