Headphone jack not recognized;also no Realtek HD Audio Manager

Here's the sitch: took an extra fan out of my ASUS, restarted it, and suddenly my computer doesn't recognize when I plug my earbuds into the front jack. Weird, so I check to see what device is the default audio input, and oddly, it's an audio cable. Headphone option is greyed out because it doesn't detect that any headphones are plugged in. All the threads I've seen on this issue either deal with laptops or tell me to use my Realtek HD Audio Manager. I think, okay, I'll go use that. Oops, turns out, I don't have a Realtek HD Audio Manager and the Realtek site wasn't much use in acquiring one. So how in the hell do I fix this? It's incredibly frustrating.

here's a look at my device list audio wise.

Edit and update: uninstalled drivers and restarted. drivers reinstalled but that didn't solve the problem.

You do not have the sound hardware driver, only the generic, basic function, Windows installed High Definition driver. Check with the PC vendor for the correct sound driver. May be Realtek but could be some other such as Conexant.

Second the Virtual Audio Cable is a software program that emulates Stereo Mix so you can record streaming audio from the Internet. That should only be used if the regular (hardware) sound driver does not have that.

Unfortunately that does not help. The specific ASUS model number is needed, at a minimum. Click on my "My System Specs" to see how we do it.

Hi hereforjustthis, Thank you for filling out the specs, but it still shows 4 Asus models.

Under the startorb could you type in system information, and see if Asustek and a model no. is there

Is there a label on the pc anywhere to show the model no.

Can you enter the bios to see the exact model

Okay, so this is what it lists under System Info. I also took a look at the motherboard itself and I *think* this is the model number: P8H61-M PRO CM6630-8 DP MB
