How to get output at 44.1kHz?

    Hi all,

New to W7 here. I'm installing throughout this week and learning it.

I'm attempting to play CDs via various sources in my PC, from VLC to WMP to Winamp. CDs are of course at 44.1kHz.

Yet when I go into the Sound control panel, I go to Advanced Properties for the soundcard in question, and I can only get 48kHz, either 16 bit or 24 bit. Which means some sample rate converting is going on. I can even hear a drift in pitch as I change between different default output devices in the Sound control panel and it settles down.

I know the external soundcard supports 44.1kHz, so how can I persuade Windows 7 to use it?
