How to remove duplicate sound playback device entries?

This is what my sound playback devices list normally looks like:

When I plug in that Samsung HDTV, I get a bunch of duplicated entries for it:

Only the top 2 devices work, and I have no idea where all the duplicates came from.

I can't find them in Device Manager either:

How do I get rid of these duplicate entries? Thanks.

You can uninstall them in the Device Manager.

First thing I notice, you do not have the actual PC sound hardware driver, just the generic, basic function, Windows installed High Definition drivers. Uninstall the High Definition and install the correct driver. Same way for HDMI audio, since you have NVDIA Virtual Audio Device I assume you have an NVIDIA Video Card.

Multiple HDMI entries can show up, depending on the drivers and the specific card capabilities.

Thanks! Did this and rebooted, now all the duplicate entries are gone.
