Creative Labs X fi Gamer card goes AWOL

So I have several of these Xfi cards varying models including a couple of Titanium models. I like the quality of the audio these cards provide. So this card is a SB0730 XFi gamer PCI card. It is hooked up to a Logitech 2.1 audio system and the computer is used for chatting to relatives and friends via video and audio or just text typing. The speakers make the odd bong noise from time to time when message arrive. Sometimes Winamp gets to flex its muscles and play some music which sounds pretty good. A few weeks ago I suddenly got a full volume effect of motor boating which I now know was the moment the sound card stopped functioning. The sound card went missing from the device manager and the bios enabled the onboard audio. Of course I did not notice at first until I went to chat when the application just crashed and there was no sound. I reinstalled drivers to no avail. So I removed the card and swapped over to on board audio which worked fine although sounded terrible compared the the sound blaster. I examined the card and noticed a 220uf 25 v capacitor in the power section of the card had vented and blown its top. A new Panasonic 220 uf 25v 105C quality capacitor restored normal operation. See the close up for the cap in question. The number varies depending on model and I think the PCI express cards do not have the same part. The capacitor is the one in the lower picture to the right of the CPU (under Heatsink) with the gold stripe on it just in front of the Crystal and next to the coil. Hope this helps someone fix a good soundcard
