Wifi USB adapter causes music popping and crackling

From times to times I return here to see if someone has the same problem (and solution).

I have a desktop with a USB wifi adapter and its traffic causes music playing popping and crackling. I already updated drivers yadah-yadah-yadah and nothing seems to cause any positive effect.

Someone?

This has been a known problem for a long time. I don't recall any fixes

Thank you for the heads up Fireberd!

Actually my Seven is each day worse regarding to this. This is a shame since all the rest it does reasonably well and because I use my computer for work I wouldn't think to move to a newer Windows.

Anyway it is killing my pleasure of listen to music... and I have considering to build a side computer only for media powered by *cough* Linux.

It also happens in Windows 10 but seems to be less of a problem.

I use to visit Recife many times.

Bom Dia

"Good" to know that MS still didn't solve the issue... at least I won't feel too bad for not upgrading...

I mentioned to build a Linux computer but actually there is all the hassle of deal with another monitor, keyboard, etc, and so I reminded that the last time I stayed in the home of a client she told me about an old HP laptop with WXP to give away. I will ask if she still have it and if so I will try to pick it to myself to use as a player!

By the way, yes, Recife is a beautiful place, although I never was there and only know by photos. I live in state of Sao Paulo, at the southern side of country (VERY far from Pernambuco state).

I had these pops and crackling start to develop on my computer, when playing audio CD. I presumed that some internal change had caused the development, so I switched off updates and switched off router for a while, and I changed ISP. Whatever happened it doesnt seem to occur again.

PS I had one BSOD last week that was accompanied by an audio pop, no playing CD.

It is a mystery that was not there when the computer was new.

This problem is hard to pin down. What fixes or helps on one PC may not work on another.

However, with a desktop I wouldn't use Wi-Fi unless there is no other option. I've used 100 foot ethernet cables without problems.

(yankleber I worked at the NASA Apollo tracking station on Ascension Island. Recife was our holiday destination).

Yeah, it may be the ideal solution. Actually I use this wi-fi adapter because a matter of laziness. My computer is only about 6-7 meters away from the router so a cable is an excellent solution although because aesthetic reasons I would want to pass the cable through the ceiling. Anyway I will try the give away computer as my first shell and if it fails I will go for the cable option. Thanks for the heads up, fireberd, someone has given to me this suggestion ages ago but I totally put this aside by then. Maybe it's time to seriously consider this now. I am really upset to not be able to listen to my music, specially because the computer is my ONLY source nowadays since I converted all my CDs to MP3 and then gave them away.
