How did you remove the programs?
Did you use Programs and Features, or did you just delete the folders?

I did something similar a couple of years back when I decided to get rid of all the junk and things that I pesonally didn't need. In my case though, I changed/updated the install.wim offline and then created a new installation media. This sort of thing can be done using things like Win Toolkit, DISM, DISM++ etc.

I haven't had a Lenovo, so I can't comment on what is needed and what is not as far as their particular installed products are concerned.

Anyway, I have commented your list with what I have done in the past!

System update-*Lenovo? - This is probably to find the latest drivers for your Lenovo, e.g, Motherboard, Chipset, Graphics Card etc.
ThinkPad full screen magnifier
Thinkvantage access connections?
Thinkvantage active protection system?
Thinkvantage communications utility?
Verizon Wireless Mobile broadband self activation

Windows features to turn off if I'm correct in* thinking I may not* need them:

Internet Explorer 8 (I never use*the Explorer to browse the internet) - I turned it off.
Microsoft.Net Framework*3. 5. 1 - I WOULD DEFINATELY KEEP THIS.
Print and document Services - I turned it off.
Remote differential compression - I turned it off.
Tablet PC components - I turned it off.
Windows Gadget* platform - I turned it off.
XPS*services - I turned it off.
XPS* viewer - I turned it off.

Programs I download and use:

Google Chrome browser - This is OK.
CCleaner - This is OK.
Audacity - I have never used it.
Gadwin screen printer - I have never used it.

You could also disable things like Windows Remote Assistance etc if you aren't going to use it. There are other things that you could disable / get rid of, but, how far do you go? It will be interesting to see what others say.

One thing I would definately do though, once you have your system running exactly how you want it, is to create a system image.

Obviously, everyone likes their own system setup to how it suits them. What is good for one person, is not necessarily good for another.

As far as the space needed/used for a system image, I use AOMEI Backupper Standard. The compression rate from the drive being imaged to the System Image drive will be in the region of 40%.
