Something is interrupting with my sound during Startup
on a pavilion dv7, some startup process just began interrupting my windows startup sound now. i am on a very clean build with almost no software application. it's like the starting desktop jingle plays, but only halfway, then stops. all other sounds, eg. adjusting my volume, restarting etc. works. it;s just the windows startup sound. sometimes it gets cut short, sometimes it just doesn't play at all.
i am using the most applicable oem sound drivers afforded by HP legacy support, and there are NO yellow triangles in device manager.
3 items relating to audio controllers appear in the device manager :-
Sound, Video and Game Controllers
- IDT High Definition Audio CODEC (Device is working properly)
- Intel(R) Display Audio (Device is working properly)
System Devices
- High Definition Audio Controller (Device is working properly)
Like i said, i am doing test window installs, and so haven't really had much of a chance to ruin anything yet. i installed windows, placed in all oem drivers.
two recent things i did was save out and in a clone (1:1 cloning, not imaging, not backup & restore). even
so i have done a lot of this in the past and it never happned before.
the other thing i did was change my system disk to SSD, and another 2 ssds tied in Win RAID 0.
Please help thanks.
EDIT * FIXED
Nah i fixed the problem by sfc /scannow, had the corrupt files fixed, then stopped module worker stopped, and cbs file deleted. Must be because i was swapping in and out clones of my system drive, while having raid drives attached at the same time, created some confusion in the system. works fine now. This explanation however is only based on my observation. If someone knows the true underlying mechanics/processes of what actually happened, please share here, for the continual growth of my knowledge and others.
regards.
