    WMP crashes/freezes

Hi,fellow forum users! I'd be grateful if anyone can help me with this one-When listening to a playlist using WMP,the program crashes/freezes,i.e,the cursor freezes & won't move & a very loud buzzing comes out of the speakers. It's like a BSOD,except the WMP page is still displayed. If I forcefully turn off & restart the laptop,it works for a while, then does it again. I've used the Windows7 troubleshooter,& uninstalled/reinstalled the player, but it hasn't stopped the problem. I thought it may be a corrupt music file, but yesterday I downloaded two radio programs from the BBC directly onto my desktop & when I tried to play them as a playlist, the laptop crashed again.Any suggestions, please? Cheers, the Fenderbender.

    Hi fenderbender,

I haven't used WMP for years because of such things that you describe!

I use VLC Player for Windows => VLC Player. It pretty much plays anything you throw at it.

    I hope this helps!

Hi,Paul, thanks for the reply! I did try VLC this afternoon as it happens, which I've had on the laptop for a while, but when I tried to import music files from Windows,I just got 'not responding' at the top of the VLC page & a lot of very rapid flickering. To be honest,I think it's probably just really bugging me that I can't get WMP to work again-I just hate to give up on a problem! Have a good evening!

Have you checked that you have the latest WMP & Graphics Card updates?

Not specifically, but I do download regular Windows updates & have checked for driver updates, which informs me I've got the latest drivers. I don't think I've checked for the graphic card updates though-I'll get on with it now!
